Sports Massage

At Tadcaster Physio we have a dedicated Sports Massage Service. Whether you are just needing a few niggles ‘ironed out’ or wish to complement your specific training we can help. Our sessions are tailored to your specific needs and requirements, meaning that the massage itself can be to the depth and intensity that you require. This service is excellent for people who have an ache or a niggle that needs some specific hands on attention or to help with a longer term management plan. It does not even need to be sports related as we see a lot of stress and postural related issues too. We also often see sportspeople in the build up to an athletic event to enhance their training process or ‘after the race is run’ to optimise recovery.

Sessions are usually reclaimable with most health cash plans and as the service is one of many under our roof if you require a more in-depth assessment or specific treatment or rehab plan then one of the physio team can be involved too. Our massage therapist, Andy Mason, is fully qualified and experienced in sports massage as well as a being a qualified ultra-running coach and personal trainer whilst also studying a degree in Sports, Exercise Science and Coaching. You are in good hands!

Our sessions cost just £35. Sessions will be just under 30 minutes to allow for cleaning, disinfecting and record keeping.

At present we have sessions on Monday afternoons/evenings but please call or email info@tadcasterphysio.co.uk for availability.

Although sports massage has been paused we have been providing hands on Physio for the majority of the pandemic. We have a number of protocols and procedures in place which you will be sent prior to your appointment. This will cover everything in great detail but rest assured full PPE will be work (masks, gown, potentially gloves), bed covers are single use paper and everything is washed down and disinfected in between appointments.
Ideally wear something loose fitting and/or shorts although it is likely that a degree of undressing will be required to work on particular body parts. You can be well covered in towels and patients are welcome to get changed in the clinic room before and after treatments. You may wish to bring your own towel. We ask at this time that you wear a mask for the duration of the time you are in the building (unless you have a medical exemption).
The level of pressure and depth of massage will be regulated by your therapist depending on your problem, comfort level and personal preferences. You are encouraged to give feedback throughout your session. Please let the therapist know if you have an event coming up or if you have a specific niggle as special consideration will be given to how you will feel afterwards.
Yes, fully insured for professional liability up to £5,000,000.
Millie holds VTCT level 3 and 4 as well as a degree in Sports Therapy. Most cash plan companies recognise these qualifications and should reimburse on sessions (depending on the type of plan you have). To be certain please check with your individual provider. A printed receipt can be forwarded on to you for claims purposes with all of this information included.

As this service is a sports massage service this does not include any  assessment or any diagnostic testing. If you have a more long-standing or complicated problem it is recommended that you have an in-depth physiotherapy assessment. This should seek to provide more of an insight into ‘whats and whys’ as well as including sounder based advice and exercise.

If you would like a sports massage first to see if this can help your symptoms then we are more than happy to accommodate this as we know that not everyone wants a physiotherapy assessment. Therapists will work closely in order to develop on-going dialogue we believe that our patients will gain more from a joined up approach that a multi-disciplinary clinic has to offer.

Please call the clinic directly if you have any further questions or to book an appointment.
