Quite correctly Hand and Wrist injuries have their own specialism and subsequently their own specialist. We are fortunate to have a fantastic Hand Therapist in Liane Williams, with decades’ of experience in working in (and running) a world renowned specialist upper limb unit.
Hand and upper limb therapy is the non-surgical management of disorders and injuries involving the upper limb using physical methods including exercise and splinting. It is crucial in the recovery from injury and /or surgery and in the management of acquired pathologies eg Osteoarthritis.
Some common conditions seen are
- Trigger finger
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Arthritis of the wrist, fingers or thumb joints
- Dupuytren’s disease
- Finger sprains commonly from sport
- Fractures involving the arm, wrist or fingers.
These may be treated conservatively or may require surgery and subsequent rehabilitation. We have excellent links to local hand and wrists surgeons.
How we treat
At Tadcaster Physio we take the time to fully understand the problem. Taking a detailed history including medical background and importantly how it impacts on your day-to-day life.
Our focus is to provide quality evidence based treatment techniques in clinic and then back this up with appropriate home-based exercise and tailored advice. We believe that a combination of traditional hands on techniques coupled with the correct approach day-in-day-out gives optimal results.
